Optimal Wellness Overnight? How to play the wellness game.

I have seen energy healing work almost instantly for acute conditions. An all day bout of hiccups, gone in 2 min while typing my customer info into the computer at T-Mobile; back pain from poor ergonomics while dealing poker for a few weeks vanished never to return; headaches, indigestion, foot pain, all short term issues cleared quickly and efficiently. And I know there are many, many powerful healers in the world who can facilitate major changes in the body with hours worth of energy work.

However, for most of us, optimal health and wellness is a long game. It’s a commitment and a decision to make lifestyle changes, to get “alternative” therapies consistently and to seek help as appropriate. That is HOLISTIC healing.

There are two things I want to say, and I hope my musing comes across in a thoughtful and thought provoking way.

I’ve been at this holistic wellness thing for a while. And sometimes it's hard for me to remember how I used to be. But when I look back, when I read through my old journals I see that I have come a long way and it has been through focus and commitment to my ideals around whole life wellness. It has not been easy. And the consistency has been in waves. But I do see that what I believed in the beginning without personal proof has become true for me, with proof galore.

Thing #1 that I want to say.

Holistic wellness works.

I took my mom to see her cardiologist today. She's been on heart medications for 3 years. She's not improving. In my opinion, she’s getting worse. I finally convinced her to see a naturopath and started her on my energy healing protocols. So she took her herbal remedy and her NES infoceuticals in to her cardiologist today to ask if they were ok to take with her meds. The cardiologist said these remedies were a waste of money and would not help her, but that they wouldn't hurt either. He actually asked how much she spent on them, which remained unanswered. There was no point in offering any reasonable discourse on the subject with him. I wonder if my silence came across as “I’m going to do what I think is best for my mother regardless?” I don’t know, it doesn’t matter. Because when we begin to educate ourselves on how our own “machinery” works, we don’t need someone else to tell us what works and what doesn’t. And I guess it kinda boils down to what an individual is willing to do in the name of and for the sake of their own health. My mom, bless her heart, at 85 years old, feels lost and reliant on the “infinite” (not) wisdom of her doctor. But she’s an overall healthy person, with healthy habits, and a willingness to look at other options for her own wellbeing, options that ARE scientifically and anecdotally proven to work. Options that worked for ages before these medications were invented. Holistic, natural and energetic approaches to wellness work and have worked for eons.

Which leads me to thing #2 that I want to say.

Holistic wellness is a long game.

This week I had a client ask for a refund after one healing session in a package of 3. In all honesty, I felt she was going to ask for a refund before the first session. And I gladly refunded her the balance. Why? Because in our very first session, she was unwilling to accept the things I was telling her about how important her own energy was in relation to the events and relationships around her. She said she didn’t understand how her own healing would benefit her relationship with a certain person, and she didn’t see the need for time and consistency in her efforts. Frankly, I was surprised that she booked the package after that.

Yes, as I said, I've seen virtually instant shifts happen with the work I do. But more often than not, it takes commitment and focus to see lasting results. And as a culture, we can no longer adhere to the western ideals of specialization and compartmentalization of the human body when it ALL works together seamlessly or it will all fall apart. It takes time for changes to happen. It was not overnight that the chronic pain, ailment, condition, problematic relationship, emotional baggage or whatever the issue is to appear. And most likely, if it’s been there for a while, it’s gonna take some time to remedy it so that the body, mind, spirit or relationship can heal. This expectation that we have in our culture that we can just take one pill, or have some other kind of overnight miracle really is damaging and causing people to suffer far far more than is necessary. (Which begs the question “is any suffering necessary?” IDK, a question for another time)

Holistic healing can be and often is very, very simple. It isn’t always easy, beliefs, conditioning and resistance make sure of that. But I believe it's time for a shift in our thinking.

The 2 things I wanted to say. Holistic wellness works and it takes time. And thing #3 I just thought of. Make the commitment to yourself, you're worth it.
